You will receive an induction pack when your child starts with us, but here are a few tips that will help before you start.
Induction Sessions - We will offer flexible induction sessions for each child based on their needs and this will be discussed before you start. Comfort items such as a toy or blanket can be useful during the settling period.
Separation Anxiety - Sometimes children can be anxious when they leave you for the first time. Your child’s keyworker will work with you to make the induction process as easy as possible. There are some tips on reducing separation anxiety on UNICEF’s website.
Drop-off and Pick-up - Drop-off and pick-up are at our outside gate but we encourage parents to come in with their child when they first start.
What to wear - Because of the potentially messy nature of some of the activities, please send your child in practical play clothes. Ideally, items should be easy to undo by little hands for trips to the toilet etc. Labelling clothing, especially coats, is useful. We encourage play outside and therefore it is helpful if children bring warm coats, hats, scarves and gloves in the winter and sun hats and sun cream in the summer. We provide a pre-school bag (you may prefer to bring your own) so that you can bring a change of clothes and nappies if needed.
Lunch - If your child is staying for lunch they will need a packed lunch – see packed lunch guidelines. A water bottle is also useful. Please label lunch boxes and water bottles.
Communication - Our half-termly newsletter can be found on our website and a link is sent out by email. Once you have signed up to Tapestry (an online journal to help record all the learning and fun that your child experiences) you will receive regular updates about your child.
Fees - See our section on fees.
